Palisades Homes & Condos

The 3,000 or so homes in Palisades vary from apartments, and row houses to large modern designs. Homes on the bluff along the Potomac take advantage of stunning riverfront views. The average price for a Palisades home is $843,000. Prices do start as low as $600,000 for single family homes but these are generally purchased for the land value. They will be torn down and new larger homes will be built. The opposite end of the price spectrum includes homes approaching $4.5 million. Several homes in the higher price brackets, from $1.5 million upward, sit on the bluffs overlooking the Potomac River.

In terms of condos and coops, the average price for a 3-bedroom unit is about $595,000 although efficiencies start as low as $150,000. Almost all of the condos and coops are on McArthur Boulevard.

Residents have a local recreation center, are minutes from the C & O Canal National Historical Park and walking trails, and a Citizens Association in charge of hosting events such as the Fourth of July Parade & Picnic – an annual celebration that has been going on for over 40 years.

The highly-rated Francis Scott Key Elementary School underwent extensive renovations in 2003 and features an automated library and updated science and computer labs.
