Spring Valley D.C. Real Estate

Spring Valley is a neighborhood of wide streets, lined with old growth trees standing next to stately historical residences. Located in northwest Washington, DC and near the Maryland border, many of the homes sit on large one third to half-acre lots with scenic views. Although it feels as though you are in the suburbs, downtown DC is only 10 minutes away by car.

Spring Valley real estate is among the most affluent in the nation and known for its wealthy families, such as the Washington Nationals’ owners Ed and Debra Cohen. In addition to housing the main campus of American University on Massachusetts Ave., several embassies including South Korea, Bahrain Quatar and Yemen are located here.

Spring Valley Homes

The median Spring Valley home sale price is $1.22 million, but it’s not unusual to see grand luxury estates sell for upwards of $10 million.  Properties in excess of $2 million are, for the most part, in an area known as Old Spring Valley.  These homes were built between 1930 and 1950.  They sit on large lots with sweeping manicured lawns and gardens.  They are often stone or brick in composition and Colonial or English Manor in architectural style.

The area along the Potomac River and MacArthur Blvd, has a higher percentage of apartment houses and commercial. To the east, along Foxhall Road are some of the area’s largest residences.

Spring Valley street borders are Nebraska Avenue to the south, Delacarlia Parkway to the west, and Massachusetts Avenue to the northeast.
